Incentive Programme of the Year: Nu Skin Success Trip, Marrakech 2015
It has been an exciting week here at The Black Tomato Agency. Last Friday we headed en masse to the prestigious Conference & Incentive Travel Awards, where we had been nominated for Incentive Programme of the Year. Hard work and dedication to another action packed brief paid off and team BTA took to the stage to accept a shiny new award, which now sits proudly in office HQ. As the memories of a great night at the C&IT Awards begin to fade, we can bet that the memories for the lucky employees of Nu Skin will not. Here’s a taste of what went into winning the award:
The aim was to create an unforgettable reward trip for 250 top performing Nu Skin employees and VIPs travelling from ten different countries. The incentive needed to motivate staff, to resonate as a just reward for their hard work and to create an environment for peers to connect; luxurious yet intimate, packed with activities yet seamlessly executed. We wanted to create memories to last a lifetime, in a setting fit for royalty.
And so to The Royal Palm Hotel, Marrakech; the perfect backdrop for four days and nights of activities. Having transformed the hotel’s spa and gardens into an on-brand party venue, guests danced their welcome night away with a DJ providing the perfect soundtrack. As guests explored a secret candlelit garden in the grounds of the hotel, the bar was set for an unforgettable few days.
At a glance, Marrakech might not seem the first choice of destination for a premium skin care and nutrition brand. Yet Morocco’s exotic surroundings, from the stunning Atlas mountains to the rugged desert terrain, gave us the perfect canvas to create something truly unique and exceptional. Using the surroundings to our advantage, we created a range of bespoke experiences, including a bespoke Nu Skin festival in a hand-picked retreat outside the city. The festival channelled some of the best aspects of Moroccan culture with an added competitive edge, as guests took part in dozens of traditional crafts, sampled the best of local cuisine and enjoyed a prize giving ceremony and banquet under a marquee in the retreat’s grounds.
Day three began with a half day conference translated live into six languages before we whisked the group away in a convoy of seventy 4x4s to a bespoke secluded desert camp in time to watch the sun go down. Entertainment included a lavish three course meal and a range of atmospheric, traditional performers and live music, topped off with a surprise firework display; a night so magical two couples decided to get engaged. This luxurious Desert Camp appeared overnight and disappeared the next day, the exact kind of magic Nu Skin wanted for its star achievers and the perfect mid-incentive highlight.
And the finale? After private tours into the maze-like depths of Marrakech’s infamous Medina, guests donned their robes for a black tie gala dinner in a world class country club, where bubbles flowed, awards were distributed and guests danced the night away to a live band and roaming entertainment.
